Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives

Our Reopening Plan

It has been very quiet in the vault these past few months. We miss our volunteers and the inquisitive faces of our researchers. That is why we're very excited to welcome you back to the Archives by appointment beginning on Monday, August 17!

We are taking all necessary precautions to curb the transmission of COVID-19. Please read this post before booking your appointment with us.

Booking Your Appointment

Contact us directly to book an appointment by phone at 613-623-0001, or by e-mail at adarchives@hotmail.com.

Appointments will take place during our opening hours: 1:00 to 3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Please book at least two days in advance. This allows us to schedule a volunteer to be present, and to prepare the desired research material for your visit. When booking, we will ask a series of questions to determine what your research goals are. Shorter and more general searches will be assigned to telephone and e-mail correspondence. Priority will be given to those who wish to see specific material that is not digitized.

During Your Appointment

To ensure the safety of our staff, volunteers and the public, please adhere to the following rules:

  • Come alone – We ask that only one researcher access the archives per appointment, as we have an overall limit of 3 people allowed into the Archives at any time, including staff and volunteers.
  • Wash your hands – Due to safety concerns, we will not provide cotton gloves unless you will be handling photographs. Please wash your hands upon arrival and before entering the research room in order to both mitigate any damage to paper material and reduce exposure to the virus.
  • Wear a mask – It is now imperative to wear a mask inside any public building. All volunteers and staff will be wearing a mask throughout each appointment.
  • Do not enter the Library – Even though it will look open and be easy to access from the inside, library visits are regulated and must be booked separately in advance via the library website. The downstairs washrooms, however, are open for use.

Hand sanitizer will be available at the entrance to the archive, and our usual research request form will now double as a way to perform contact tracing procedures if a case of COVID-19 occurs.

Our research room fees are available here. We accept payment by cash or personal check.

Looking to donate archival material?

Donations are now being accepted from the public. Contact us to discuss your material and to schedule a time to drop it off with our archivist.

Stay safe, and we hope to see you soon at the Archives!
