The Arnprior Women's Institute (AWI) had its first meeting in the Council Chambers
on January 8, 1932; Over the years AWI has supported such causes as the St. John's
Ambulance, CNIB, the V.O.N., Arnprior Fair, the Arnprior & District Memorial Hospital,
The Arnprior Grove, refugee relief, and donations to fire victims.
The collection consists of 6 volumes of Tweedsmuir Histories (1932 - 1993 ); a
coin collection, a letter from Ontario Premier, William Davis, on the Institute's 50th
anniversary in 1982, 11 bound volumes of minutes and financial statements, 2 account books
and many other items too numerous to mention.
