The United Counties of Lanark and Renfrew were first established and given
self-government in 1849. The County of Renfrew became an independent corporation in 1866.
At that time the county Council was composed of 22 Reeves representing their 22 local
municipalities. Collection consists of the 1897 - 1906 volume of Minutes of the
Proceedings with By-Laws and other papers of the Corporation of the County of Renfrew with
an index.
